The only FPV goggles that I can see clearly from edge to edge
This is the 3rd pair of Skyzone goggles that I have owned since the release of the V3 version... The other Skyzones goggles all still work just fine. I just wanted the updated versions as they became available. With this model, I required the HDMI update this pair offered and the quick scan signal finding capability. I always buy this type of Skyzone goggles as I am yet to find a set from another manufacture that work with my face shape and IPD (Inter pupillary distance (eye spacing)) and provide a clear edge to edge image. This includes Fatshark which unfortunately do not work for me! I purchased the goggles only version of this product as I did not need the 3D camera or 3D video transmitter however I already have these from previous versions of this product so was able to quickly test this function. The goggles arrived well packed as would be expected from Skyzone boxed and in the included the standard well padded Skyzone zip case. They also included a standard rubber face mask and a new type face plate similar to the type seen on the Fatshark HD goggles and several types of foam face pads for comfort fitting. In addition were the usual battery and video cables which allow connection to other devices when not using the built in 5.8GHz diversity receiver. For testing these goggles I did not use the standard antennas that came with them as they are generic whip antennas and are not really great for FPV. I used circular polarised flat panel directional antenna and a Pagoda 2 circular polarised non directional antenna. I never recommend using standard cheap antennas when paying for good goggles as they will be detrimental to the experience. I connected the goggles to a 2800mAh 3s XT-60 battery pack and it came to life with no issues and I was easily able to scan for and find my video transmitter. I adjusted the IPD with the sliders on the underside of the goggles and the image became sharp and clear. I did not fly with the 3D transmitter but as I have one setup that I purchased with a previous set of this pedigree of goggles I quickly bench tested the 3D. I have always found this to be a truly immersive 3D experience and with out a doubt the best 3D FPV experience out there. As expected this worked fine on the work bench. During my flights, I tested them with a modified Horizon Hobbies Blade Mach 25 modified with a 600mW VTX setup with absolutely no video issues. Though not the best FPV racer. What do I like with these goggles: #They are comfortable. #Unlike most other manufactures goggles (except DJI) I can see a clear image with no blurring. #Latency is low and I can fly fast around objects with no fear of hitting things. #Dynamic range with the right camera is pretty good. #Scanning for you models transmitter couldn't be easier and with a press of the scan button I was able to connect to my racing quad in seconds. #The diversity receiver built into the goggles works great and there is no obvious break in received image as the receivers switch over. #The HDMI which allows me to connect my goggles to my NVidia Shield pad so that I can fly my DJI mavic with them. #They feel well built and do not bend, twist or creak when handled. #With the original style rubber face mask, there is no light bleed around my pin head! What don't I like: #The menu system on these is tricky and often I find myself pressing the wrong buttons which leaves me ejected from the menu and having to re navigate to the option that I was trying to set up. Once setup this is not a massive issue though. #Occasionally the goggles fogged up slightly if you were warm from walking to the fly site. A fan like that seen on the Fatsharks would be nice. #Skyzone have no UK support and I have struggled to find any useful contact details for them which is a massive let down considering the risk of buying an item that has no support. #Nit picking with this one, but I don't like the carry case that these come with. I have no idea why anyone needs cutouts for the FPV camera, FPV transmitter, face plate etc which make the carry case bulky when portability is more important. A smaller case would be nice which holds only the goggles, a power cable and antennas. So after several flights I can happily say that these goggles follow in the footsteps of their predecessors. You pay for what you get and with these you get a really good set if not in my opinion the best FPV goggles bar my DJI's. I'm not easy to please and will not offer a 5 out of 5 unless the item is in my opinion perfect, however don't let my harshness stop you buying these goggles as they are really really good! They loose a star for quality as I think that the fogging issue could easily be addressed with a small fan or some ventilation could be easily added. They also lost a star for price following the recent attempt to contact them with a faulty 9 month old VTX. I think that at this price range that Skyzone should provide decent customer service and not just hide away with hordes of your cash! I'd always recommend purchasing these from a reputable retailer offering warrantee as they will be your support if you have any issues. Thumbs up from me. Hands down IMO the best FPV goggles out there.
